Best natural homemade bleaches for lightening facial hair

The festive season has descended upon us and it’s time to dazzle! Along with picking out that perfect Navratri outfit and deciding your Diwali jewellery, you also want your skin and hair to look its best. When it comes to personal grooming and skincare, facial hair can be a challenge many women face. If running to the salon very often is not your thing, or if you want to avoid chemical bleaches, we’ve got your back. Here are five homemade bleaches for facial hair, that will help you to lighten any hair on your face naturally.

1. Besan, Haldi, Lemon Pack

Besan, or chickpea flour, is an age old home remedy used for removing facial hair. A thick paste of besan applied to the face can be quite effective in removing fine facial hair. When combined with the goodness of lemon and haldi (turmeric) this pack works well to naturally bleach facial hair. Lemon juice is rich in Vitamin C and can be used to lighten facial hair. Good old haldi, found in all our kitchens, is anti-fungal and anti-acne and can help to even out and lighten the skin.

To make this pack take 2 tablespoons of besan. Add two teaspoons of lemon juice and a pinch of haldi. Add a little water or yogurt to make a thick paste. Apply the pack evenly all over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse it off and wash your face with a mild face wash suited to your skin type. Don’t forget to moisturize or apply sunscreen if you’re stepping out in the sun. Use this pack twice a week to get the best results.

2. Papaya Pack

Apart from being a delicious snack, papaya is also a wonderful skin food. The vitamins, phytochemicals, beta carotene and enzymes naturally present in papaya have skin lightening properties. The enzyme ‘papain’ in papaya works like a skin exfoliator and has depilatory effects as well.

To make this pack take 2 tablespoons of mashed, ripe papaya. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and mix well. Apply evenly all over your face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it off  thoroughly and wash your face with a gentle face wash. Apply a face serum or moisturizer after. Use this pack twice a week to naturally bleach facial hair.

3. Tomato Honey Pack

We all know that tomatoes are a great source of vitamin C, but did you know that they also work really well to bleach facial hair? Add some honey and you have a real sweet deal! Honey has a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. It has skin lightening properties, making it a great choice for brightening the skin. It also works well to lighten acne marks or hyperpigmentation over time.

To make this pack, first blend some ripe tomatoes. Take 2 tablespoons of the tomato pulp and mix well with one teaspoon of honey. Apply this pack evenly all over your face. Let it sit for 20 minutes and sip on this delicious green smoothie while you relax! Rinse off with water. Use this pack twice a week to start seeing results.

4. Yoghurt Pack

Thanda thanda, cool cool! That’s how you’ll feel with this thick and creamy yoghurt pack. Plus, it also works brilliantly to naturally bleach that facial hair. Research suggests that yoghurt helps lock in skin moisture and can also brighten the skin.

To make this mask, take a cup of yoghurt. Keep it in a cheesecloth hung over a bowl for about 20 minutes. This will make the yoghurt easier to apply. Take 2 tablespoons of the strained yoghurt and blend well with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this pack evenly all over your face. Leave on for about 20 minutes. Rinse it thoroughly with water and wash your face with a mild face wash. Top up with moisturizer or a sunscreen if you’re heading out in the sun. This pack is easy enough to use every other day. Make sure you use it at least thrice a week to see results.

5. Milk & Honey Mask

Nourish your skin with the goodness of this milk and honey mask and naturally bleach your facial hair too. Raw milk is rich in lactic acid which works as a deep cleanser and gentle exfoliant. It helps to get rid of dead skin cells and lightens the complexion as well. Honey is a wonderful moisturizer, apart from its skin lightening properties that we discussed earlier.

To make this mask, take one tablespoon each of honey and milk. Blend well. Apply it evenly all over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Cleanse your face with your regular cleanser to ensure that you don’t have any sticky bits left. Use this mask twice a week for best results.

Pro Tip:

Before using any of the above masks, make sure you do a patch test first. Apply the mask you plan to use to a small patch of skin on your arm. If you experience any adverse reactions such as itching or a rash, do not apply the mask to your face. Do not apply any masks, even natural, if you have any cuts, abrasions or a rash.
