Meet Mumus Overfortius: The Mother Who Is Trying Her Best

Hand-drawn illustrated field guide titled "Weekday Woman – Species: Mumus Overfortius", showing a humorous comparison of a busy working mother before and after 7 PM.

Every woman knows her.

She has reheated the same cup of tea (or coffee) three times. She still ended up drinking her personal, curated version of iced tea or coffee anyway.

She’s forgotten why she walked into the kitchen.

She’s answered “Mommmmm!” approximately 4,782 times before breakfast.

She’s trying to eat more protein.

She’s trying to drink more water.

She’s trying to remember where she left her phone.

Mostly…

She’s just trying.

Her name is Mumus Overfortius.

It’s a completely made-up, mildly dramatic, fake-Latin name that roughly translates to:

The Mother Who Is Trying Her Best.

She lives somewhere between school WhatsApp groups, grocery lists, forgotten permission slips, half-drunk cups of tea, and the eternal question: “What’s for dinner?”

Sometimes she’s funny.
Sometimes she’s exhausted.
Sometimes she’s quietly brilliant.

Most days, she’s all three.

She isn’t a superhero.

She doesn’t have colour-coded lunchboxes.

She doesn’t wake up at 5 a.m. to meditate before the rest of the house stirs.

She forgets things.

She loses patience.

She eats standing at the kitchen counter.

And yet somehow…

Everyone around her keeps going.

You may see her popping up on Wellthinest from time to time.

Sometimes she’ll make you laugh.

Sometimes she’ll make you roll your eyes and think,

“Oh no… that’s me.”

Hopefully she’ll remind us that ordinary life deserves celebrating too.

If you’ve ever hidden in the pantry to eat one biscuit in peace…

Or reheated your coffee four times…

Or wondered if everyone else has life figured out except you…

Welcome.

You’ve found your people.

❤️
